The coronation ceremony of the new Oba of Benin was an eye opener that came with lots of revelations. My previous update revealed that the Oba has already chosen three virgin girls to be his bride.
Two days prior to the grand coronation ceremony , the new Oba was at Useh where two significant events were carried out. He chose a name he will be called when he is finally crowned and chose his 4th virgin bride who eventually will be the crown Queen of the Benin Kingdom. Having had three prior to his coronation, and considering the three virgin brides picked earlier, the last virgin bride is officially his 7th wife.
His three wives prior to his coronation are still is wives but unfortunately, they won't be moving with him to the palace and won't be addressed as queens; reason being that they were married whilst the Oba was still a crown Prince.
Even the new crown prince mother is not allowed to stay in the Palace with the Oba. Only the four chosen virgin brides picked during his coronation are allowed to live with him in the Palace.
Will he still be performing his conjugal duties to his first three wives? We might need to consult the oracle to give us the answer to that question but thankfully the tradition recognizes the first male seed from the Oba as his crown prince despite the fact that his mother is leaving outside the Palace.
The new name chosen by the crowned monarch signifies that the he is a new person and totally differenct from the crown Prince hence the reason his handpicked wives are not allowed in the Palace.
The New Oba was finally crowned King of Benin Kingdom some hours ago in the presence of top monarchs and dignitaries including the Sultan of Sokoto, Emir of Kano, Aliko Dangote amongst others.
The 63 years old Oba is official the 40th King of Benin Kingdom and wishes to be known as Oba Ewuare II. Oba gha to Kpe e....Ise!!!
